The Plaza @ Truro originally opened in 1938 and was the
premier venue for film-goers throughout its opening period. Since then the
premises have changed hands several times until it was purchased by WTW
Cinemas in 1996. Following extensive refurbishment and reconstruction, The
Plaza was re-opened to the public in July 1998. The Cinema now boasts four screens, all of which offer state of the art sound and vision equipment. All screens have wheelchair access, and there are aids for the hard of hearing through Dolby ScreenTalk and hearing loop systems. All auditoria are fully air conditioned. In November 1999, The Plaza played host the the regional premier of the James Bond Film "The World Is Not Enough" and is favored by all major film companies as the premier cinema in Cornwall. The Candy Bar offers a wide range of popcorn, drinks, ices and other confectionary, and there is a fully licensed bar open daily from 7:00pm.
